Welcome to the simplified Success podcast, where we take the complicated, overwhelming and unorganized parts of your business and life and break them down to simple steps so you could integrate them to reach your goals. This is a place where we believe anything is possible with the right mindset, tools and strategies. I'm your host, Lindsay Reynolds. Each week I'm gonna bring you practical tips and tricks to build your skills, mindset and strategy from industry leaders who frankly, are just crushing it and making things happen. If you're ready to make the shift from good to great, but keep it simple and you're in the right place. Hello. Hello. Welcome back to the podcast. Okay, Today I am so psyched for over going to talk about because this is something that comes up all the time. So I'm my clients, as you know, And just in general, everyone is always looking to be more productive, right? Get the right things done when they matter on time. So today's episode is dedicated to my tact, tips and tricks and all the things around how to take your productivity to an entirely new level. But when I do know for working with my clients. And the time that I have spent in this is there are some tools you need your toolbox. So what I have done is I have built a little packet worksheet for you to use in conjunction with this podcast as a nearby tool and forever tool. So, um, when I built my brand simple, high success, it was truly because I believe success could be simple. I do not mean easy, but it can be simple, but it really comes down to having the right tools that work for you. So one thing I like to make sure everybody knows is that I have so think about it. This way is a Somebody was gonna work on your plumbing. Okay? A plumber was gonna come and do his work. He brings an entire container of tools like a toolbox. Right? And there are multiple different tools in there. And depending on what's going on, he's going to use different tools because they work differently in line with what he's about to have to fix, right? This is exactly how I believe you create success in your life. I believe that over time we are equipped with the tools that we need to be successful. We don't always use the same tools, and not everybody uses the same one. Some people have special ones or custom tools or different tools, and sometimes you don't use the same tools on the same problem. Sometimes that problem takes one dual. Sometimes it takes three. So when we're walking through this, these air, all tools to put in your toolbox, they will apply in different ways for different situations. Sometimes it will take time gonna go over five today, but sometimes it will take all five. Sometimes it will take one. It really, really just depends. But the key is equipping yourself with a toolbox that has variety, a toolbox of different tools that you've tried or that have worked or that having worker that you heard of but thought they were kind of cool. And over time when something comes up, you grab a tool. And if that doesn't work, you try the next tool. And if that doesn't work, you try the next tool. And before you know it, you're moving on. You're making it happen. So when it comes to productivity, I firmly believe that tools are key, OK, it takes certain tools, certain things to help you to be more successful and that I truly believe this. And there are people who are just more productive by nature than others. I was born with the the, uh I don't want to call it the need almost to the inability to not find a way to be productive. Like I remember even when I was a kid, like and it's funny, So this was normal the time, but I would literally, mentally Klein out what I was about to do. I grew up with horses, and so I would literally mentally plan out, like when I went to go feed, build a wheel barrel with the six or eight flights of hay, and I have these buckets with the grain in this way. When I walked through, I could drop him off all in order and take a listen on steps. So I've always just been wired to be highly efficient, highly productive, because that's just what makes me feel good about me. If you've never done research on Instagram or the disc profile, human design, all these different things help you to understand how you're wired. Um, and they all tell me the same feller thing. That's just kind of how I'm wired now. What I want you to know about being productive is that being wired for it does not necessarily mean that you're better a be if you are not wired like I am. What I just said does sound crazy. Totally find we can still be friends, but you can still use these tools within your world within what feels best to you. Ok? Ah, lot of times I'm going through surgery planning with my clients or we're working through how they want their business to look in organizing their business. I come back to the same concept over and over. I am giving you a canvas. I'm giving you some paint. There are some boundaries outside of the actual canvas that you don't want to go outside us. But what you do inside there, you need to do what feels best for you. Okay, so one of practice going over this with this may sound like, Oh, I don't really like that. That isn't something that would fit for me. That's fine. Keeping open night. Try the things because you don't know what works until you try it. You can't. Not something you haven't tried. But what I will say is that this may look different for you, and that is completely okay. That's why we equip ourselves with lots of different tools. So first thing that kills productivity kills it. The overwhelmed. Okay, give me. And obviously this is a podcast you can actually like. Raise your hand, but like give me like, Ah, hands, hands up! All the things you ever felt overwhelmed. Andi, I know this is something I want to tell you guys. This is something I have learned over time. Just because you've moved to the next level Just because you thought you dealt with this, these kind of things will still come up. That's why you keep them his tools. So before you can be productive, you have to be in the right frame of mind. Okay? And overwhelm is not a frame of mind that sets you up for success. Okay, so the first thing you have to do before you can do anything productive, get the right things done. All of those things is to get the overwhelm ask of you. Okay? So There's a few things you can do. One of my favorite tricks and I talked about this in the packet, which you can actually get this packet. If you want to follow along in the show announced, you can go directly to your website and grab it off of there on that. What, you have access to it? It's a free packet, but it's really I thought this was super important for you guys tohave to be able to continue to use the tool over and over again when you need to to be more productive. So first thing you do is you stop for a second and you breathe OK. When you are overwhelmed, your heart rate is up. You feel anxious. You feel all the things right and you feel very just yeah, so before you can really get yourself back centered back in a place where you can make logical quality decisions, you need to stop for a second, take a deep breath, just breathe. I want you to get a piece of paper. It could be blanket can have lines, whatever. I've included a really pretty cute one in the packet, but it's sold it to you and I want you to set a timer for at least 10 minutes, 10 minutes, and I want you to get everything out of your head. All the things that are going through your brain, all the things that whether it's different, limiting beliefs or stories, you're telling yourself, or I have to do this and I have to do that and then a practical there. But I feel good about this. I want you to get everything out of your head. I want you to write all of the damn no organization, no structure. You just get that stuff out of your head when you are trying to logic through overwhelmed in your brain, it is so hard and what'll end up happening. Is your brain this structure to remind you of things so that you don't forget the things that are important to you and you will drive yourself. And that's trying to think about one thing and then something else. Think about one thing, and then something else comes and then think about one thing, and then something else happens. So it's super super important that you get it all out of Morehead and you start to logic through this with an empty, clear mine that can actually make quality decisions that's not attracted. The other great thing about having things out of your head and on paper is that you can physically see all of it. So there have been times when I have felt so overwhelmed by all the things I have to do. All the people, all the staff thing I don't want to forget. Oh, yeah. I wanted to take that and grab those colors. Oh, I forgot that I needed to write that post to do that thing and pick up that thing that the I don't go to the cleaners. I'm not gonna say that. I really do that very much. Go to the cleaners by the grocery. Whatever. When I read it all out, it has this way of being realistic. So one of two things is gonna happen. You're gonna write it all out and go. Oh, my gosh. I really do. You have a lot to do, which is we'll figure out the next step. It will be okay. The flip side does he write it all out and you're like, wow. Okay. Well, it is a lot. But that much is what I was thinking. What a way less crazy when it's on paper. Okay, so this is the first step. Okay, Once you finish the brain dump, I want you to take a minute and just breathe and just know that everything that is important right now it's on top of your mind is now in this piece of paper and you have everything you need to be able to walk through this and pick the right things and get the right things done. And you're no longer held captive by the things in your brain because they're all in that piece of paper. Everything that's most important right now that you've remembered in the last 10 minutes and I will tell you 10 minutes of doing this is a long time. You will get to where you're not halfway through and you won't really have a whole lot more to say. Especially if you'd use this tool frequently. And you'll be like, Oh, wow. Okay. There's really not like I didn't forget anything. This 10 minutes is a long time, right? Okay. Here is the next thing. I want you to look at your brain down, okay? And I want you to highlight or star or in any way that you feel to identify before most important things. The four. Just for I know everything on your list is important. I I hear you. I totally hear you that there are four things that are most important. There are life or death. They make the most impact. And where you are trying to go with your goals there something that you are ready to make happen There something that these the most important of all the things on there they are the most important. Okay, I want you to highlight those four. I also want you to highlight one thing. That is the easiest thing. Okay, The easiest. Quickest. Quickest in. You could get up. Okay. Next step. You ready? Do that. Easiest thing, person. So the reason that we do both of that, I want to you to know and remember for yourself that you are a person who gets inked up, OK? And there's something very satisfying about getting across something off your list. I'm just saying, Okay, so in the packet, the next thing you're going to do is there's ah There's a top four list, and it has a place where you can put the most impactful things that need to happen. Okay. You're taught four off of your brain dump. You're going to keep your brain dump. You're not getting rid of it. You're still gonna have it. It's OK. You can come back to it. You're gonna come back to it. But you're just picking the top four things that are life for guests. The most important impactful things that you need to do and something that is ready to make happen. So when I say ready to make happen, it doesn't have a whole bunch of sub tasks in it. Okay. So, hypothetically, if one of the things I wrote damn in my brain doubles I need to write a book. Good. I would not put one of Knoepffler. Intention is writing the book. That is a huge thing by itself. A book is broken down into chapters which is broken down into pages which is broken down into letters. Okay, so our awards that letter say so I wouldn't put one of my four intentions to be writing a book. I would put money my four intentions to be the first step of creating that. I wrote a page I wrote X amount of letters. OK, so when I when you're looking at these and you're you're figuring out what the top four things on your brain done, I want you to notice the things that you are putting on there that are actually key pieces of what could be 18 different tasks to make them happen. Okay, now something like one of your things might be to go to the grocery store. That might be at something. Yes, I know there's 20 things underneath that with because you have to pick up 20 things at the store. But that is one task that has multiple producing it. But that's part of the task, Okay, but if it's something like launch your program, those of you that are, you know, running a business and you want to launch a new program or launch a new offer, that could be a thing. But one of the things that it takes to create that result those are the things I want you to be putting in your top four. Those pieces the most important pieces that impact the progress towards your goal. Okay, so the next step, our intention sessions intention sessions are legitimately What make the difference in your productivity? 100% believe intention sessions change everything. Okay? And this is step three in the five cents to make it happen. Packet. All right. And it is set yourself up for success. So here is the thing about the way that you are wired, all right? And this is not me talking. This is actually based on information I read specifically, Brendan Bashar talks a lot about this in his book High performance habits. If you've not checked that out, its quality definitely do it on. He did a international study for years about people who use these high performance habits to create success in all kinds of walks of life, all kinds of worlds and what made them unique or what made them seven scenes that unique what made them similar, what was similar among them. And put this in this book. One of the biggest things he talks about is how we pace our day, how we pacer time. So I call these intention sessions now, but your brain is meant to stay focused on the thing. Multitasking kills us, and I will tell you I am. I have the hardest time with us because I feel like I get way more done if I do all the things. But if you can do a couple of these intentions sessions a day now, if you work up over time to do them to do more awesome. But if you can commit to yourself to the 1 to 2 intention sessions of day, it will change your productivity. Unbelievably, I can't tell you the difference in how I feel and what happens and what I get done when I follow this plan. So an intention session is 50 minutes of intention. 10 minutes of nothing. Okay, 10 minutes of relaxing, shifting, setting yourself up for the next one. Okay, so the weight intention session works is you literally set your timer for 50 minutes. 50 Ok, before you start the timer, you are going to look at your top four and you are going to set intentions. And I have I have a worksheet for you called the intention sessions, and it's like attention. Session one. You can put this in there. I want you to set what the results are that you are going to create during this time. Napa two Duce with the results. So here's something that is a huge difference between a to do list and a results list. Okay, This is something that I also learned. I believe it was Rachel Hollis for some kind of ah, girlfriend of Rachel Hollows. Just kinda. Sorta, maybe a little. Yeah, a lot. But results Lists are a game changer. When you write it to do list your writing items that need to happen when you write it results less your writing how you're going to make the result. So let me give you an example. Okay, So a result list. Let's say for today I need to have a meeting with John. Okay, I'd actually don't know that I actually have a job to meet with our human over John. But Johnson's like a very sitting name for this conversation. So let's say I have a meeting with John. All right, so my to do list would say meeting with job. My results list would say what the meeting was about and what the goal of the meeting is. So if I'm gonna sit down with Drum. I actually need to get with John about building my website. I'm literally making this up. Okay, so the results of that meeting would be out leading the website and getting an action plan of how we're gonna actually build the website. That would be what my results this would look like for that intention session. Okay, so it does look with meetings, a lot of people, but it can also work with yourself. So flipside to do list will take for your business says right content. A result list says build the content out for my upcoming course on blink or build the the content that I need for my email list for this film, the blank sale or course or thing. Or it could just be I want to do a result that my result could be writing an email about fill in the blank topic. Okay. A result list is what happens is what is the key to your intention session. Ok, so what intentions do you set? What results are you setting? This is where you go back to your top four lists. You look at your top four. You pick one of your top floor. What are the result it takes to create that exact thing? So if let's say hypothetically, that thing is get my content ready for the week. The result would be right. Three emails. Hypothetically, I'm not say you have to send three emails, but whatever your standards are in your business, right, Three emails about this topic, this topic this topic right to Facebook posts about this topic. This topic that would be the results that create are the inputs that create the result of having your constant lined out for the week, which is one of your top floor. You see, I were taking your top four or breaking it down, saying the example I gave you guys with the book You're taking the writing a book. Your results for your attention session would be 100 words. Okay, that's an in point that creates ah, book. Over time. You see how we're breaking this down? Okay. There are room in the intention session sheet that I made for you guys to do three intention sessions. OK, you can build up to five or 10. Will tends a lot because it means you're working 10 hours. That's that's a lot. I'm not saying you can't work 10 hours, but to work this intentional for 10 hours, you're gonna blow your mind and what you get done. So there's some rules for intention sessions before you start. Then you have to actually set your intentions, which is your results that you're going to create during that time. Okay. Rule number two, you gotta turn off all distractions now. Everybody's then workspace looks different. This could be music for you. This could be quiet. This could be my candle needs to be lit. And I like to have my coffee, whatever that looks like for, you know, the environment. But more than anything, you have got to kill all distractions. OK, so that means make sure you go have notifications coming up on your phone. You're not taking your email. You're not answering your phone. You're not doing those things during this time. Now I know immediately you're like, but what if somebody calls? Okay, you can call him back. I No, no. Forget it's gonna be OK right now. Something important or an emergency comes up. Of course, you deal with the emergency, but you set your team up to understand what you got your team, You work with your family, whoever it is that I'm about to go do an intention session. Unless something is completely, you know, death calm. Level five. I'll be back out. Was it my intent out of my session in 50 minutes. And I will be happy to help you with whatever you need. You dressed heavyset, quality expectations. So people understand. I'm going into an intention session, and I need to not be interrupted, distorted? Whatever. You can set this standard. Like I said with your team, with your family, whatever that looks like. Um, but this part isn't to you did not check your email, do not go on to social media and starts rolling. If what your intention is to write Facebook posts or right content, you don't actually have to be in that app to do that thing. Okay, So set yourself up for success in a way where you are not distracted by the things that you are doing. Okay, set your timer for the 50 minutes and get rolling. Okay? Make this happen. You will be shocked when you do not let yourself get distracted. You set up your Zen workspace. So for me, I like to have a camel going. I like to have, like, coffee or drink. And then I played some really good music. I got different play lows like to pump me up for that, get the stuff dying, right? And I focus. All right. When the timer goes off at 50 minutes as you get things, I'm on your on. Your result list high. Like them. Cross them off, check them whatever. Because you're amazing. And that's so freaking cool. Holy car. Okay, when it goes off, I want you to stop when it goes off, OK? Do not keep working. This is so important for protecting your energy. When I say energy, I don't mean like you're or a I mean like physical energy. If you push your brain to work for significant periods of time without giving yourself a mental break even for just 10 minutes, you are depleting the energy. You have to get more things done, OK? And you're also gonna be tired and old things, right? So do not do that to herself. Okay. When the timer goes off, get to a good stopping point me to take a minute or two. Whatever. Get up, walk away and celebrate yourself. Okay. I want you to literally move your body around with just walking around your house. Whatever. And right now what I'm recording this were in quarantine life. So maybe you're just gonna walk on your house, Whatever. But I want you to celebrate the fact that you just got the most important inputs that create the results that you're looking for in your life. Done off your list. If you want a dance, party it up. I fully support this 1000% if you want to. If you do dance, party it up. By all means, if you aren't instead or Facebook user, please, please, please take me in your dance up because I would love to celebrate this dance party with you forgetting the most important things on your Listen. This is a step that we all too often forget. And it is the most important step in helping you to ground in that you get things done celebration and and and I don't mean, like, you know, like pop champagne and celebration of student for everybody. But I want you to really? Honestly, sit for a minute and give yourself a high five. This particular thing is a such a game changer for people such a game changer. You have to have to have to allow yourself to be proud of yourself. This will actually build over time and allows for you to understand that you have the ability to sit down. Do what you said you were going to do and get it done. This build and allows you to be able to set bigger goals have higher expectations for yourself because you have proven to yourself that you are capable of doing hard, crazy things. Okay, Your friggin rocks are you Just tell it. All right, So here's the thing. You just start back at one. All right? Go back to your brain, dumb look and see what you have next. Go back to your top four, see what you have left to do. See what results you need to create what inputs you need to do to create that top four gold to be done on top, for item to be done. And you just another intention session. And you just do these as much as you need to, and over time you'll get it done. Here's the thing. I want you guys to remember about our infinite list. Even though you bring dumped it all out and everything feels really important, I want you to check yourself, Okay? Not everything is the most important thing, All right? There are things that are more important than others on. We will get caught in the cycle that we have to do all the things, all right, And I'll do later episode about delegation and what to keep and when you should give things away and all of that. But what I really want you guys to understand now is being realistic with yourselves. And no, that you are capable to do all the things you just have to use your tools. Be intentional and give yourself celebration and rest ag in between your sessions. OK, so the workbook has a page for you to do. Intention sessions three. In that day, if you do more than three great. You could do all of us in an open. You do not have to use the workbook. I just wanted to give you guys some tools toe help you to be able to walk through this because I know the first time I was exposed to these tools, I feel like it was a little bit hard to navigate through exactly what people meant on DSO. This is how it's manifested for me and how I do it. I follow this. When I feel overwhelmed, I go straight to break dumping. Nearly every time I set my intentions, I picked the top things and I do my intentional work sessions because the only way to move yourself there overwhelm is to move. Okay. Ah, lot of times we try to think our way through overwhelmed, and that literally only destroys us from the inside out. All right, movement is what creates clarity. Movement is what creates getting the right things done. But she has to move in the right direction, which is why doing these brainstorms, studying his intention sessions in doing the right things that you have deemed our most important sets you up to not only get things done, we get the right things done right and movement keeps things moving. But I know some obvious that was dumping, say, but truly like movement creates clarity you cannot. And I have heard this bill on, like, analysis, paralysis or you're just thinking your way through all. Do this in all development. Literally. You have to stop, get out of your head and start moving and the clarity will come. So I hope this was helpful. If it is by all means shit medium and tell me because I'm pretty sure we just became friends. And if we're not already, we should be. But I hope that this is everything was were open for and gives you some really good tips of some actual tools you can use to help you be more productive. And there'll be more coming on the episodes. But I hope you guys have a great day by Thank you so much for listening to the podcast today.
